David De Gea was given a wonderful reception by the Manchester United fans on his return to keep goal against Liverpool at Old Trafford.
The Spain international signed a new contract on Friday and was selected by Louis van Gaal for the first time this season in a fixture he excelled in last year.
After being warmly greeted during the warm-up, the noise levels went through the roof when the packed stadium welcomed him back in goal. The Stretford End roared their approval as he followed stand-in captain Michael Carrick out of the tunnel and quickly chanted his name.
Stadium announcer Alan Keegan left the no.1 until last when reading out the side as De Gea received a deafening cheer that sent shivers down the spine.
One fan even held up a placard stating: "Thank you David De Gea for staying at the best club in the world!"
